Our February 21, 2015 meeting was at the Bothwell Arts Center in Livermore. This might just have been our most fun yet! We set up stations around the perimeter of the room for cutting, paper, sharpeners and erasers, pencils, Icarus boards, and miscellaneous tools. In the center were our work tables. We all milled around trying out supplies, tools and papers and getting tips from others who had experience with them already. Working on black paper, working with heat, working on sandpaper, working with solvent, working on suede mat board, the difference between wax-based and oil-based pencils, why Neocolor IIs are not “legal” for the CPSA International Exhibition, how the point from a Dahle sharpener differs from that from an Xacto sharpener, how working with solvent differs from using watercolors…. I think everyone went home with new knowledge and ideas! Thank you to everyone who helped with setup and cleanup.
I am in charge of organizing our workshop by Gemma Gylling this year (April 18-19 at the Bothwell Arts Center in Livermore).
Mike Purdy is in charge of organizing our chapter show this year (September at the Pacific Art League in Palo Alto), and the good news is, there will be no entry fee this year! All work must be for sale (a term of our contract with PAL), and PAL will keep 30% of the sale price from PAL members, 40% from non-members. Gemma volunteered to help Mike with the prospectus/entry form design. He will need more volunteers later.
Maryann Kot is in charge of organizing our Livermore ArtWalk booth this year (October in downtown Livermore).
Mike Purdy is checking into a chapter 20th anniversary celebration at Campo di Bocce in Livermore. Stay tuned for details on the date and time….
Our next meeting will be Saturday, May 30 at the Bothwell Arts Center in Livermore, 11 AM - 3 PM. We will have a set of mini-demos by several of our talented mmbers on techniques such as using ink for backgrounds and working on sanded paper.
